Environmental protection

At Hotel Thalmair, the focus is not only on the well-being of the guest but also on the topics of sustainability & environmental protection. For some time now, we have been doing our best in various areas to help the environment.

Solar energy

Munich is one of the sunnier regions in Germany. What could be more natural than to use this energy? Our approximately 200 square meter photovoltaic system on the roofs of the hotel produces approximately 35,000 kWh of electricity annually. This already enables us to cover a large part of the hotel’s needs and save around 28 tons of CO₂ annually. The remaining electricity demand is covered by 100% green electricity, which we purchase from Stadtwerke München. By 2025, the Stadtwerke München want to produce as much green electricity in their own plants as the whole of Munich needs – as the first megacity in the world.

Electromobility

For travelers with electric vehicles, two charging stations with connection possibilities for four cars are available in our underground car park. The charging station is powered 100% by environmentally friendly green electricity, which is partly produced by our photovoltaic system. Charging your electric vehicle is free of charge, only the parking fee of 9.00 EUR per night is payable. We hope you enjoy refueling!

Waste separation

By cooperating with certified waste management companies, the legal requirements are met and the waste is disposed of properly in compliance with the municipal waste statutes. Waste is consistently separated in the hotel and avoided as far as possible, for example through bulk containers.

Plastic waste is avoided, for example, by using a dosing system with high concentrates for cleaning agents and refillable soap dispensers for soap and shower gel in all rooms.

Detergents

We purchase our cleaning agents from HWR-Chemie. All cleaning, disinfection and maintenance products are developed in-house and made from naturally occurring raw materials – for the benefit of the environment. Our use of a dosing system with high concentrates additionally avoids plastic waste.

Insect hotel

With the hotel’s own insect hotel, our company takes further ecological responsibility to preserve biodiversity: Because insect populations are shrinking drastically throughout Germany, as their habitats and food plants are eliminated and pesticides are used. However, insects are an essential part of our ecosystem.
